What material is it made of? Is it pure gold?
No, it is not solid gold or sterling silver. The outer box is usually made of engineered wood (MDF) or acrylic with a textured finish, while the inner idols and padukas are made of base metal with a polished gold-colored plating.
Can I do a proper daily puja with water or milk on the Padukas?
No. This is a decorative devotional item, not a stone or heavy metal idol. You cannot pour water, milk, or honey (Abhishek) over the footprints or artwork, as moisture will instantly ruin the wood framework and tarnish the gold plating. Stick to dry offerings like flower petals.
Can I light an incense stick or diya right next to it?
Keep a safe distance. The box material and the velvet/satin lining inside are flammable. Additionally, direct heat or soot from an oil diya or incense stick can permanently blacken the gold finish and melt the internal components. Place your diyas at least a few inches away.
